Listen

a surprise awaits

something wonderful, unique, challenging.

Love is deep inside,

goodness is deep inside,

resisting disinterested challenges,

let gentleness and Love,

be evident to all.

put aside all anxieties with prayer,

and thanksgiving,

let goodness thrive

listen to that inner voice

allow God to open hearts and minds

to His goodness

the need for light is prominent

listen for this light

and fend off hopelessness

anticipate the joy God

again for the first time

face to face as one meets a lost friend.

listen for meeting Jesus again

. . . for the first time.

The birthright as his children

Within our souls rejoice, trust

We attain our haven

Honor those we do not know

Feed them, house them

As members of our family

Ignore the fear of those

You do not know

Strangers they are  not

But friends you have not met

Talk with them

Share with them

Bask in God’s light together

Encourage each other to love

Look toward Christ

Not our predatory culture

Share your spiritual awakening

To new life, to new love

Together, reach the light

that only God can give

Dazzle

When my friends enter my den, they are dazzled by the diplomas and plaques of thanks for all the volunteerism I have done in my life, from helping to coach the local YMCA swim teams to being president of the high school booster club, to name a few. Diplomas and plaques are opulent when one thinks of lack of true devotion to the needs of humanity.

Our religions tell us we are sinners because we are human. I cannot wrap my mind around this thought. I do not believe that we are sinners just because we are born of human flesh. We are created from the will and grace of God and therefore are His children, more than we are children of the human parents we have. When Jesus asks us to honor our father and mother, isn’t he also asking us to honor God, the supreme father and mother in our lives?

How’s this for a dazzling idea? Like Joseph, we are all shepherds; god’s desire is for us to shepherd our fellow man bringing the light of God into their lives. This does not mean to change their beliefs, but it does mean to model how it feels to be a true child of God; actions speak louder than words. Treat people with love, and love will return to you. This is God’s will; this is how we are dazzled by God’s love. If we show the light of His countenance, we are bringing our brothers and sisters into waters of the springs of salvation; we do not need to be baptized by John to achieve this.

God assures us every day that he is with us, within us, by our side, and we will have no harm done to him when we walk in His light. Some of my friends ask for a sign. I ask what sign. We do not need a sign that God is with us every single day. I look at the Sun rising in the morning; I hear the birds singing outside my window; I see the children playing games and know that god is with me every day in every way. I do not need another sign of His presence.

I know that God blesses us every day. If we allow Him to lead us, we cannot go astray. If we follow what our manufactured governments say, we walk not in God’s light but the light of selfishness and greed. The momentary dazzle of gold and silver fades very quickly when hardships occur. God’s dazzle never changes.

I look for God in the face of every person I meet; I see His face in theirs; people see this in me and smile; this is God smiling on me. This is God smiling on them. I believe that if I cannot see the face of God in others, I cannot see God in my life.

With every spiritual gift I receive on earth, I experience the dazzle of God’s Presence, Love , and Grace. May God walk with you today.

My house has a special room

its name is trust

with many windows and doors

People may enter

those who enter this room change

They spurn this room

a lack of faith disappoints them

petrifies them

Opinions enter this room

they decompose

Ideas are amplified here

Ask, Search, Knock

These are the commands of God, as given to us by Jesus. His mercy and grace are ours, for when we ask, we receive; when we search, we find; and, when we knock, the door is opened. This is a promise to us all, no matter whom we are, or where we live, or, how we live. It is freely given without restrictions or our doing anything to deserve it.

We make this better for us when we ignore those who want to captivate us with words of anger and hatred. Their deceitful philosophies are not those of god, are not those of Jesus. Even though we live in a corrupt, base, primitive world, we are all children of the living God; He is eternally alive within us. This is the promise given us by Jesus.

In the Old Testament, we ask God to increase and multiply His mercy upon us. My view is that when we ask, search, and knock for the mercy of God, we are in fact multiplying His mercy for the world to see, for the world to benefit from. We are living in His eternal mercy.

One of the things my grandmother used to say to us when we wanted to start a fight was to turn the other cheek. I no longer say this; I say that if we give love to people, we will receive love in return. Sooner or later, this love, like the ripples in a pond, will spread continually. The promise of this love includes the dismantling of the false promises of material rewards.

Our short lives on this earth are not fulfilled by accepting the illegitimate words of those who spread discord and violence. Walk in the sunlight of God’s mercy. My life is wonderful when I practice this.

Memory

Memory

Too soon, death

Are we forgotten

Too soon, I fear

We lived, we loved

Sufficient as a memory

Only God knows

Love transcends life

Love transcends death

Love is the bridge

The only survivor

The only meaning

Memory is nothing

Wholeness

Wholeness

Here is a thought: what is wholeness and how can we practice wholeness. Wholeness is being undivided; but another word for wholeness is integrity. Mystics look at wholeness as  critical element in the structure of a person. If one achieves wholeness, one can see wholeness in others. One who achieves integrity can see integrity in others. My grandmother used to say that if you look for evil in others, you’ll find evil; if you look for good in others, you’ll find good.

In our heads, hearts and body, we must achieve wholeness to see wholeness in others. When we honor the goodness in ourselves, we honor the goodness is all. We can honor the divine in us (our relationship with God); this lets us recognize the God in others. One way to say this is to see the face of God in those we meet. When we see God in ourselves and in others, we realize that neither of us deserve it; it is given freely by God as one of His eternal graces.

If we can accept the unmerited presence of God in our lives, we can heal ourselves of the disappointments and failures that we meet in everyday life. This only possible if we recognize that others also need to heal themselves. When we accept this, our healing becomes complete. We know that in our imperfect lives, lives that we share with other imperfect beings, we can begin to see God in all that we see. We can achieve wholeness in our lives.

Can we use language that honors others, expresses the beauty of life, the love of God and our joint union with God? Maybe not, but we can certainly try; we can certainly try to achieve the wholeness that we all deserve.
