Pay Attention

It is in the quiet hours where there are no plans. Where our hearts open wide, to the reality of how God helps us plan our futures, He guides us, let us choose our own ways. We are blessed by His grace. There is much noise in our brain, not from the outside, but inside, from inside of us, created from inside our own fearful self. Many times, we don’t know which way to turn. Just trust in God’s path; listen to our inner voice. It IS love that guides us.

Contemplation of the Beautiful

God Dwells here
Look around; look inside;
see the beauty of others.
Accept, do not dwell on the negative. . .
‘tis not God’s doing!
Deep inside find love, find life.
Do not judge, let God do this.
We are here to be together. . .
To love each other first as strangers, then as family,
creating beauty from the wilderness.
Let us find this love;
let us find this beauty.

I Was Thinking About You Today

I know how worried you are. I know how troubled you are; how you can’t sleep at night. But listen to your heart. It’s your heart that keeps you alive. Remember, your heart serves two purposes. It pumps the blood from your brain to your toes. It also beats the emotions that carries the love that you feel for the people that you meet and work with on a daily basis. Remember this! This is what is important. This is what carries you from day-to-day. All the rest is just noise. What comes from your heart is what matters. That is the living God within you. Nourish it! Cultivate it! Do not be afraid to show it. To not be afraid to share it. Is the true Love within you. It is God within you. Peace.

Man’ Family

Is it time for each one of us to take a walk in the forest or sit on our back porch or go into a lonely room and close the door? Shut out all of the noise of the world. Turn off the noise of the television. Listen to her heartbeat. Search for the God within us. And just ask ourselves what the hell is going on? Is this what I want for my children? Is this what Jesus intended? Is this the peace that he died for? Jesus preached nothing but Love; He healed the sick and infirm wherever he went. Those who were considered outcasts were accepted and blessed by him. He blessed the little children. And for this He was tortured and killed in violence. He died in hate. Let us pray in Jesus’ name that His love blesses our children’s lives, and they live in love, not hate. It is up to us. Let us live in His name.

Our Children

We talk with our neighbors about our grandchildren playing and the joy we get watching them. In our retirement community we lack their joyful noises as they play together. I think about what kind of joy six-year-old Lavra feels as she hears the rockets explode over the refuge of her house every day in her small town near Kviv, Ukraine. Of course, nine-year-old Nizar in Dahiyeh, Lebanon is getting accustomed to hiding in his own basement scared that one of the many missiles coming from Israel will blow up his house. Three-year-old Lakhsha knows nothing but fear as she and her mother nestle into a corner of a destroyed bakery in the Gaza strip. She knows nothing but terror in her life. Yes, I take time from each of my days to think of the children. The poor children of the world outside of the peace of the United States. Yes, these are also our children.

But Leave Plenty

Our earth is rich,
giving food a’plenty.
We take and take
and take
and take.
Do we take too much?
Does our greed show?
An old Yakima saying. . .
Take, take, all you need!
But plenty you shall leave. . .
for future generations.

Reflection

Sometime during the sixth millennium (day) of creation, it is written as follows: “Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness. . . (Gen1:26).”Billions of words in millions of volumes have been written as to the meaning of this one tiny sentence in our Bible. A few short lines later, verse 31, after seeing all He had made, He said, it was very good. God’s creation is ongoing; each time we see new plants growing, this is evidence of new creation. We could never overcome God’s perfection; we are not perfection; we are only very good. So let us strive for perfection in all we do. I start by saying Good morning to all whom I meet. Try it; it brings smiles.

Peace

Our faith leaders always wish us peace. It just rolls off our tongues so easily, can we know how to share the peace that Jesus taught. I still hear the voices of my ministers and how they talk about peace. I also return to the Sermon on the Mount and hear the love, the peace, the sharing, the compassion, the sharing, need for brotherhood, the sharing, the Word of God. All of this is pointless until we practice the art of sharing. When we remember that man, not God created the concept of religion, we should share God’s Grace and Love with all people ALL people; this is the message of Jesus. I crossed this street and began sharing God’s Love with all. I am happier and calmer; I pray those I meet are also.

Compassion

I met two women this morning at the farmers’ market. We said hello and shared pleasantries about the beautiful day. We both praised God for allow us ol’ fokes’ to enjoy His beauty in the world. We laughed for two whole minutes and enjoyed each other’s company. As we parted, I said to my wife how disappointed I was that I had forgotten to ask their names; it’s not right to remember two new family members without names, just as the toothless one and the Black one. Well, we can love them just as much. At my age, if we see them next week, I wouldn’t remember a name anyway. . . just love them as sisters.

Motivation

Take a long walk in nature with your eyes closed. Visualize yourself as a younger person running through the woods carefree, singing with the birds, wishing you could fly up to the branches and join them. Become the blueness of the atmosphere. . . and the whiteness of the clouds unencumbered by the any of the shadows on the ground. How free do you could feel. The energy flowing up through your feet, powering through your legs. Your heart feels stronger. You know there is something better. That’s something called motivation. Given to you by God. Let’s use it. And it is beautiful. It is Grace.
